Technical Specialist

Description of Duties
This is a technical position responsible for developing standards for computer products utilized by a department. The employee reports directly to and works under the general supervision of a senior level employee with leeway allowed for the exercise of independent judgment.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must meet the following minimum requirements on or before the date of the written exam:
Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma plus EITHER:
- Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered four (4) year college or university with a Bachelor's degree, plus one (1) year of full-time or its part-time equivalent* experience in all of the following: evaluating, recommending, installing AND utilizing commercial software packages, networking products, and common hardware devices; OR,
- Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered two (2) year college or university with an Associate's degree, plus three (3) years experience as described in (A) above; OR,
- Five (5) years experience as described in (A) above; OR,
- Any equivalent combination of training and experience as described by the limits of (A), (B), and (C).
Special Requirements:
If you are appointed, you will be required to have a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in New York State or otherwise demonstrate your capacity to meet the transportation needs of the job.
